Student Internships
Our professional interns are placed under the supervision of a correctional professional who works with them to develop a meaningful internship opportunity focused on utilizing the intern’s academic knowledge and skills in a professional work setting. To apply for available internships at the Georgia Department of Corrections, complete the application and background check, then submit to interns@gdc.ga.gov.
Application Process

Interns will be placed under the supervision of a correctional professional who will work with them to develop a meaningful opportunity to utilize their educational knowledge and talents in a professional work setting.
YOU MUST PROVIDE AN APPROVAL LETTER FROM YOUR ADVISOR/COLLEGE THAT YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN AN INTERSHIP PROGRAM AND WHAT THE EXPECTATIONS WILL BE. PLEASE ATTACH WITH YOUR APPLICATION.
Hours will vary dependent upon the facility and the students’ requirements.
Please also note: Criminal background checks and social media check will be required. Valid driver's license and Social Security card required. Dress code policy will be enforced.
Once your internship forms/approval letter are received, you will be contacted regarding the next steps in the process. Please note: Our college student internships are unpaid.
