Student Internships

Our professional interns are placed under the supervision of a correctional professional who works with them to develop a meaningful internship opportunity focused on utilizing the intern’s academic knowledge and skills in a professional work setting. To apply for available internships at the Georgia Department of Corrections, complete the application and background check, then submit to interns@gdc.ga.gov.

Application Process

The Georgia Department of Corrections protects the public by operating safe and secure facilities through the development of professional staff and effective offender management. Georgia Department of Corrections has profoundly reshaped its adult correctional systems, earning widespread acclaim for its comprehensive approach and promising results.

Interns will be placed under the supervision of a correctional professional who will work with them to develop a
meaningful opportunity to utilize their educational knowledge and talents in a professional work setting.

Hours will vary dependent upon the facility and the students’ requirements.

Please also note: Criminal background checks will be required.

Once your internship forms are received, the required criminal background check will be conducted and you will be contacted regarding the next steps in the process.  Please note:  Our college student internships are unpaid.
